Healing Path
by Jean Logan, Ph.D.
Getting Well:
Everyone wants to "get well." Deep down inside we all know that we should be healthy.
The question is "What steps are we willing to take to get there?" One thing is certain. We cannot
get well doing the same things that made us sick. Most people are looking for someone to heal them.
The truth is, the person who has the greatest power to restore our health is the person looking back
at us in the mirror. Doctors may give us prescriptions that will surpress our symptoms, but they will
not restore our bodies. Years ago, when I was working for the Department of the Army in Atlanta, I
subsisted on a diet of morning coffee and donuts and other equally harmful and nutrient deficient foods.
This diet depleted my whole body of vitamins and minerals. I am the only one responsible
for this, and I must take the responsibility for restoring my health. Our bodies consist of what we eat,
what we think and what we believe. We are the only ones who can change any of these.
Nutrition:
It has been proven over and over again that a diet with plenty of raw fruits and vegetables, to include
vegetable juices, plus the elimination of sugar and other processed food, is one of the best and most healing
thing we can do for our health. The number of ailments that people have healed themselves of by eating an all
raw food or mostly raw diet is unlimited including cancer and diabetes. It takes conviction to change but it
is a rewarding path. Getting help and encouragement from family and friends is important. For anyone who wants
to make this work, an organization called Hallelujah Acres
can be very helpful. Just doing a search on the internet on "raw food" will provide a wealth of information. If
your system is severely compromised, however, your digestive abilities may not be able to handle all raw food.
You will have to let your body be your guide. Most medical doctors do not receive much training in nutrition, so
they may not be a totally reliable source for comprehensive nutritional guidance.
Proper nutrition includes drinking plenty of water, preferably distilled or ionized, one half gallon a day
for the average adult. Coffee and carbonated beverages are very destructive to the body and should not be
substituted for water. Some herbal teas are also diuretics so exercise caution in substituting herbal teas
for water.
Emotional Baggage:
Every one is carrying around what I will call "emotional baggage" that can impede our quest for renewed health.
The use of kinesiology, also known as muscle testing, is a critical tool in uncovering these blocks to our recovery.
Many of us at some dark point in our lives feel that we just do not want to go on. We may have forgotten this
incident; however, our body retains this message down to the cellular level. It is just as common for many of
us to cling to illness, either through an occurrence during our past or to achieve a purpose in the present.
There are many that retain their illness for attention, sympathy, monetary benefits or the buried belief that
they deserve to be punished for some previous action in their life. Someone who is retaining the emotion of
hate, resentment or other negative thought processes will find this a block to healing. Letting go of any or
all of this destructive thinking or memories is critical as these thoughts can prevent us from getting well.
In his book "Power vs. Force," Dr. David Hawkins, states
that "In every studied case of recovery from hopeless and untreatable disease, there has
been this major shift in consciousness..." On our
website can be found the directions
for Acutapping, a form of acupressure refined by Dr. "Buzz Johnson. By tapping on various points on energy meridians
on the body, one can rid themselves of almost any negative emotion.
Exercise:
The saying "use it or loose it" cannot be overstated. Our bodies grow weaker if we do not get adequate exercise.
The lymphatic system requires the action of our muscles to move lymph through the body. Without exercise, the lymph
thickens and fails to perform its function of removing toxins from the body. Whatever exercise is appropriate for your
health condition and needs should be a regular routine. This should include as a minimum daily fast walking or other
aerobic exercise. Bending and stretching exercises are also important. Dancing and swimming are excellent ways to
exercise and have fun at the same time. Swimming in salt water is very healing.
Sunshine and Fresh Air:
Spending some time in the sun, as long as it is not long enough to cause a burn, is essential for good health.
Fresh air is important. Sleep with the window open if possible. Oxygentation of the body by learning deep
breathing is very critical to good health. Most of us have developed the bad habit of shallow breathing, not
utilizing our lungs to full capacity.
Educate Yourself:
Read everything you can about natural healing of your body. Get several books from your local health care
store and be willing to try various natural healing methods. Many of the books in the "Recommend Reading"
section of the Holy Ground Farm web site will be a good start.
Get in touch with your source, whether you call that source Creator, Father, God, or Jesus. Tell your source
that you want to be guided to heal your body and then open yourself to what is shown to you. The answer is
out there waiting for us. All we need to do is ask.
